Hall of Fame
Joseph P. Kenny spent 36 years (1981-2018) treating athletes and teaching students at Brock University as the Head Athletic Therapist. Â
He received the prestigious opportunity to be on the medical team for two Olympic Games, in 1988 in Calgary with the host medical team and in 1996 in Atlanta for the Canadian wrestling and basketball teams.  Â
Kenny has served on the medical team for multiple international events, including two Pan Am Games, a Summer and a Winter World University Games and the Commonwealth Games. Kenny has also worked as a therapist at numerous Canadian University National Swimming, Wrestling and Basketball Championships and locally at the 1995 Ontario Games for the Physically Disabled, the 2005 Ontario Special Olympics, two World Rowing Championships and the 2022 Canada Summer Games which were all held in Niagara.  Â
At Brock in the Department of Physical Education and Kinesiology, Kenny established numerous athletic therapy courses and the first student athletic therapy staff. In 2017, Kenny was recognized with the Canadian Athletic Therapist Association Hall of Fame Award for Distinguished Service.Â
For his incredible contributions to the Brock University community, Kenny was awarded the Brock Sports Athletic Director's Award for Dedication and Service and the Brock University Distinguished Alumni Award in 2018.Â
