Tony Biernacki - Rowing Coach/Builder (1965-1980)
Tony Biernacki was a coach and builder of the rowing program at Brock for 15 years(1965-80). Prior to joining the Badgers, Biernacki was the Henley Intermediate Single Champion in 1957 and competed at the British Empire Games as a Single Sculler in 1958. He also won a silver medal as a Single at the 1959 Pan American Games in Chicago. Biernacki also qualified for Singles in the 1960 Olympic Trials. In 1965, Biernacki was brought on as the first coach for the men’s rowing team and would play a major role in creating the women’s team in 1969. Biernacki helped lead the Brock men’s pair and fours to Canadian Championships in 1972. In 1966, he represented Canada at the World Rowing Championships in Yugoslavia before managing the Canadian Rowing Team at the 1967 Pan American Games in Winnipeg.
