Margaret Hendershot (MacGowan) - Track and Field (1973-1977)
Margaret Hendershot (MacGowan) was a member of the track and field team from 1973-77. Hendershot was at the top of track and field in Canada while also competing with the Badgers. Hendershot won a bronze medal in the 4x100m relay at the Commonwealth Games in New Zealand, an intercollegiate gold and silver medal in the 50m sprint, a gold medal in the 400m at the Canadian Indoor Championships, a gold medal in the 4x100m relay and sixth place in the 400m at the Pan American Games in Mexico City. She would also finish eighth in the 4x400m relay at the Montreal Olympics, won a bronze medal in the 4x400m relay at the Commonwealth Games in Edmonton, a gold medal in the 400m and bronze medalist in the 100m and 200m at the World Masters' Championships in Finland. Rounding out an amazing athletic career, Hendershot was the OWIAA Champion in 100m, 200m and third place in the 400m and had a sixth place finish in the 400m at the World University Games in Bulgaria.Â
